September 25 AMBULANCE staff reported to police they had discovered a silver 2005 Mazda Axela crashed into a bank on Kāwhia Rd, Ōtorohanga just prior to midnight. No people were located with the vehicle.

September 26 GLASS in a door at a property on Mangarino St, Hangatiki was damaged sometime between September 22 and 26.

September 27 NUMBER plates for a 2021 Mitsubishi Eclipse parked at an address on Rangitoto Rd, Te Kūiti were stolen and replaced by another set. The original plates are still outstanding. THE owner of a green 2000 Ford Laser called police after finding signs the vehicle had been tampered with. It was parked at an address on Te Waireka Rd, Ōtorohanga between September 25 and 27 when the damage occurred, leaving a smashed quarter light window and damaged ignition. POLICE arrested a 23-year-old man in Auckland after a 2009 Ford Ranger ute was stolen from a commercial address on Seddon St in Te Kūiti. The ute was used to ram security gates at the address and was later located in Manukau with three occupants. The victim reported a small cash tin, an HP laptop and an industrial power pack were stolen. The arrested man is due to appear at Manukau District Court this month on a charge of receiving stolen property. A RED Honda quad bike was reported stolen overnight from a cow shed on a Tahaia Rd, Otewa property. PETROL, farm medications and a torch were stolen overnight from a dairy property on Whawharua Rd, Ōtorohanga. POLICE were called after a young person threw a rock through a window at a residential Taumarunui address. A STOLEN trailer was recovered by Taumarunui police.

September 28 A STOLEN ute was set on fire and dumped at the corner of Pokuru and Pokuru Factory roads north of Ōtorohanga. The white 1997 Ford Courier was reported stolen from Te Kawa Rd, Te Kawa and had its number plates removed. A LONG list of personal items were stolen from staff lockers at a commercial address in the Waitomo District. The items were stolen between 1.30-3.30pm and include car keys for a Mitsubishi Colt, wireless headphones, shirts, jeans, a wallet, house keys, sunglasses and gym keys. A bank card from the wallet was used at a service station in Ōtorohanga. TAUMARUNUI police arrested a man for behaving threateningly. WILFUL damage was reported to a Lairdvale Rd, Taumarunui address.

September 29 THE occupant of a house on Bayne St, Te Kūiti chased two young men who had been in his garage along South, John and King streets before he lost their trail. The men, described as being about 19- or 20-years-old, were both wearing brown shorts. One had a white shirt and the other had a red jumper. Stolen items included a gold iPhone XS max, $350 cash, a black and yellow Kathmandu jacket, a chocolate brown Guess brand bracelet, Ray Ban sunglasses, a Culture Kings brand duffle bag, a Cuban link silver necklace and a Cuban link silver and white bracelet. AN aluminium dinghy was reported stolen from Tahuri St in Kāwhia. A MAN was taken home after being detained by police for a mental health assessment when he was seen acting suspiciously on Hakiaha St, Taumarunui.

September 30 POLICE assisted Land Search and Rescue with the recovery of a mountain biker experiencing a severe leg cramp on the Timber Trail at Pureora Forest Park. The injured person was part of a group using the trail at 5.30pm. they got to a shelter 12km short of their intended destination, where Land Search and Rescue were able to assist with the patient’s recovery. POLICE stopped an 18-year-old man who is alleged to have been travelling near Lees Block Rd, Te Kūiti at 124km/h in a 100km/h speed limit. He was charged with driving while his license is suspended and ordered to appear in Te Kūiti District Court next month. A CONFRONTATION at a Taumarunui home was sparked after a vehicle was damaged and police were called. TAUMARUNUI police arrested a man for intimidation and threats. A MITSUBISHI ute was reported stolen from Racecourse Rd, Taumarunui. A DRIVER fled the scene of a crash on Taupō Rd, Taumarunui in their car after they were involved in a crash. Police later located and spoke to the driver. POLICE attended a disorder on Ward St, Taumarunui.

October 1 POLICE were called to a slip on Lairdvale Rd, Taumarunui. A VEHICLE stolen from Simmons Rd, Taumarunui was found in Taranaki. POLICE attended two slips on SH4 near Taumarunui.

October 2 TWO motorcycles were stolen overnight from a garage on SH30, Te Kūiti. A 2013 Suzuki DRZ 2400 was subsequently located in the middle of SH30. The 2020 Honda TRX550 four-wheeler is still outstanding.

October 3 A MAN assaulted another on Hakiaha St, Taumarunui.

POLICE were called to 15 family harm episodes in Taumarunui, three in Ōtorohanga and seven in Te Kūiti between September 26 and October 3.
