October 3 A CONCRETE mixer on wheels, several fuel containers and a 1977 trailer with the numbers 612 painted on it were all stolen from a worksite on SH30, Benneydale between September 30 and October 3.

October 4 AN overtaking BMW crashed into a silver Holden Rodeo on SH3 in Ōtorohanga. The Holden was stopped in its lane preparing to turn right into a business when it was hit. The southbound BMW also hit a fence around the business. A GREY 2016 Toyota Highlander drove off without paying for $106 of fuel in Te Kūiti. TWO females were caught stealing an Energiser brand torch from a supermarket in Te Kūiti.

October 5 TWO windows were forced open at a commercial address on Lawrence St, Ōtorohanga at about 6.15am. Entry to the premises was prevented by security stays. A silver SUV was caught on CCTV travelling to and from the address and may have been involved in other offending in Hamilton. FENCE posts were damaged surrounding a house on Kāwhia Rd, Ōtorohanga after a car crashed into it and fled, sometime between 10.15pm and midnight. A CUSTOMER reported having their purse stolen from a dairy in Piopio at 9.30am. Bank cards taken from the purse were used to purchase goods using the PayWave function at businesses in Piopio and Te Kūiti. Police enquiries are continuing. October 6 POLICE were called at 5.50pm when a Mazda saloon with a rotary engine was caught doing burnouts at the intersection of Kio Kio Station Rd and Ouruwhero Rd, Ōtorohanga. A FARM trailer in rough condition was stolen from Mangarino Rd in Te Kūiti overnight. LOCKS securing the entrance to a business on Rora St, Te Kūiti were damaged between 1-5am. Entry was not gained to the premises but significant damage was caused to some windows. A COURIER driver delivering a package on Seddon St, Te Kūiti was bitten on the right hand by a dog at 1.05pm. The incident was reported to Waitomo District Council animal control. WDC general manager of strategy and environment, Alex Bell said an investigation into the dog attack was underway and once it was complete, appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the Dog Control Act 1996. AT 2pm a Te Kūiti resident realised they had lost a PayWave bank card. By that time it had been used to complete six transactions totalling $208.61.

October 7 AN eastbound 2010 Toyota Vitz was struck in a head on collision by a 2016 Toyota Corolla which crossed the centreline while taking a corner travelling in the opposite direction on Te Anga Rd, Waitomo. No injuries were reported.

October 8 WINDOWS were smashed and stones found in the sink of a building on Kakamutu Rd, Ōtorohanga. A WHITE Holden Rodeo travelling north on Maniapoto St, Ōtorohanga lost control near Ranfurly St and crashed into a parked Nissan Bluebird. The Holden was driven off with three flat tyres to a nearby residential address, where the driver was subsequently spoken to. Charges are pending relating to the incident. A CAR parked at the Te Kūiti Hospital car park overnight was broken into. The white Nissan Tiida was not stolen but left with a smashed quarter light window and damaged ignition.

October 9 A PACKET of tobacco valued at $75 was stolen from a shop in Piopio.

October 10 THE lock on a shipping container on Wahanui Cr, Ōtorohanga was interfered with between October 7 and 10, but no items were taken.

POLICE attended five family harm episodes in Ōtorohanga, five in Te Kūiti and one in Kāwhia between October 3-10.
