Fliers do well in regionals

WAITOMO pilots had seven individual placings and the team came third at the regional flying competition held at Tauranga on November 26. Cecil Hickman and John Carter are the two Waitomo Aero Club pilots off to the nationals in Blenheim following wins in Tauranga. Forty one pilots represented each of the central area clubs; Waitomo, Tauranga Taumarunui and Waikato. The clubs put up one pilot for each event, with the winner being selected for the NZ Flying Nationals in Blenheim in February. The competitions which involve low flying, instrument flying, precision and forced landings, bombing and life raft dropping, are organised by Flying NZ.to promote the development of flying skills.
