November 7 POLICE arrested a 28-year-old Te Kūiti man and charged him with breaching a protection order. He appeared in Hamilton District Court and was released on bail to reappear in Te Kūiti District Court next month. A SIGNIFICANT amount of petrol was reported stolen from a rural property on Waitete Rd, Te Kūiti.

November 8 POLICE were called when a young person damaged the window of a Taumarunui business.

November 9 SIGNIFICANT damage was reported to the front door of the netball pavillion on Alex Telfer Dr, Ōtorohanga. It is believed the damage was done on November 7 or 8. No entry was gained to the building. TAUMARUNUI police arrested a male for being unlawfully in a yard.

November 10 TAUMARUNUI police spoke to a male about him playing loud music in the early hours of the morning. CAMERAS and lights were damaged at Taumarunui golf club.

November 11 A VEHICLE taken from outside a premises in Te Kūiti between 5.30pm and 7.30pm was later found abandoned in Te Kūiti. Enquiries are continuing into who was responsible for the theft, including the review of CCTV. THE window of a car parked at Countdown, Ōtorohanga was smashed. Possessions including a handbag and cash were reported stolen. COWS were reported to be on the road north of Taumarunui. November 12 POLICE received a report of a car being stolen from the service station in Te Kawa. The silver mini cooper was locked and secured and was uplifted with the use of a trailer and another vehicle. A SHORT foot chase led to additional charges for a 31-year-old Te Kūiti man who had a warrant for his arrest relating to family harm incidents. He was charged with resisting police and escaping custody. The man appeared in Hamilton District Court on Monday morning.

November 13 POLICE assisted firefighters with a large fire on Miro St, Manunui. It is unknown what caused the early morning fire that destroyed the building at the wreckers yard and damaged about 30 vehicles. A BURGLARY was reported at a commercial premises on King St East, Te Kūiti, where a fence has been cut and a yard entered. A DRIVER was caught drink driving after hitting a bank on Kururau Rd, Taumarunui and rolling the car.

November 14 BETWEEN November 12 and 14 a commercial address on Progress Dr, Ōtorohanga was burgled. Following continued issues in the area, police are encouraging all people in the Progress Park area to be aware of suspicious activity including cars being around at strange hours. A SIGNIFICANT amount of 91 petrol was reported stolen from a property on Mangarino Rd, Te Kūiti. A TAUMARUNUI man was arrested for breaching a protection order as the result of a family harm incident the day prior. A WELFARE check was conducted by Taumarunui police on a young male.

POLICE were called to eight family harm episodes in Ōtorohanga, eight in Te Kūiti and 12 in Taumarunui between November 7 and 14. Te Kūiti volunteer fire brigade November 7 THE brigade was called at 9.43am when smoke was seen coming from a diesel pump at Z Energy in Te Kūiti. The pump’s fanbelt was worn so it was shut off to be repaired by the owner. At 11.11pm firefighters were called back to the petrol station because of smoke coming from the building which activated the burglary smoke sensor. The building was ventilated by the brigade so the owner could lock it. November 8 A VAN carrying nine people crashed into a ditch on SH3 north of Lees Block Rd, Hangatiki at 5.55am. November 10 A TREE that fell across the southbound lane of SH3 at Te Mapara was cut up and cleared off the road at 12.02pm. Ōtorohanga volunteer fire brigade November 10 A GAS leak at Waikeria Prison required a response from Te Awamutu and Ōtorohanga fire brigades at 8.23am. THE brigade was called at 11.38am because a tree had fallen through power lines in Kio Kio. FIREFIGHTERS assisted a landowner on SH3 south of Ōtorohanga at 1.03pm when a tree fell. A TREE fell on SH3 near Karaka Rd, Ōtorohanga at 1.05pm. A PERSON who fell out of a wheelchair outside Beattie Home in Ōtorohanga was assisted at 3.22pm. November 14 FIREFIGHTERS helped a person who was stuck in a bathroom at 1.33am.

Kāwhia volunteer fire brigade November 10 FIREFIGHTERS were called three times to deal with fallen trees. At 12.40pm and 1.22pm trees fell on Kāwhia Rd, Kāwhia. At 3.55pm a tree fell on Morrison Rd, Aotea. November 12 THE brigade was called at 10.05pm to a rubbish fire on Rosamond Tce, Kāwhia.
