Choir concerts a success

THE president of Waitomo Music Society is heralding the 30th annual Carols in the Caves concerts as a success. Concerts were held in the evenings of December 9, 10 and 11 to strong community support, Katrin Woemer said. “We had three very successful concerts that were well supported, and by all accounts well received by the audience.” Carols in the Caves had to be cancelled last year because of Covid in the community, and health restrictions remaining through much of the group’s core practice period. This year, four founding members officially retired after 30 years of singing and were acknowledged at the Friday night concert, Katrin said. John and Martha Ash and Ann and Alister Stubbs were invited to join their “choir family” for the final two songs of the Friday night performance, Katrin said, and more acknowledgment came at the after ball following last Sunday’s concert.
