Firefighters fight grass fire

VOLUNTEER firefighters were involved last week in extinguishing a large grass fire on Ruapuke Beach, between Kāwhia and Raglan. Fire and Emergency NZ’s incident reports show Raglan firefighters responded to the call at 2.17pm on Thursday. Kāwhia Volunteer Fire Brigade chief Callan Stewart said crews from Kāwhia were dispatched at 3.07pm to assist Raglan. Water tankers were required from Te Akau and Ngaruawahia. FIREFIGHTERS were called from Kāwhia on Thursday to help extinguish a fire on Ruapuke Beach. PHOTO SUPPLIED
