Welcome to 2023!

NEW Year 2023 is upon us – and hopefully the weather will hold out for a spectacular one.

Our holiday editions are here to cover the two weeks our offices are shut for the Christmas New Year break and there is some great holiday reading in these pages.

The King Country is a fascinating place, steeped in tradition and with a history rich from early pioneering days to longstanding historical Māori figures who have played such strong roles on national stages.

It is also a stronghold for its traditional ways and its adherence to hospitality for all those who come within its borders, whether whanau or visitors.

That manaakitanga is something the King Country is justifiably proud of.

Our team hopes you enjoy sitting down with a cuppa and enjoying the stories we’ve put together.

As 2022 draws to a close, this is a time to say goodbye to the past year, to hopefully shutting the door on the regulations and restrictions of the past three years of Covid and focusing instead on better outlooks for 2023 for us all.

There is such a lot to look forward to and from ours to yours, we wish you a safe and happy New Year.

We hope you enjoy the sun, the forest walks, the many beaches, the caves and every other beautiful part of the natural landscape that is the King Country.
