Kāwhia

January 11 FIREFIGHTERS were called when a large tree was found blocking Kāwhia Rd in Oparau at 4.53pm.

A truck attempting to get around the fallen tree became stuck in the mud. Firefighters secured the scene and reopened the road.

January 15 AN alarm sounding at Kāwhia School at 5.39am was investigated and found to be a false alarm. Firefighters from Ōtorohanga were also called to the school.

Ōtorohanga January 9 FIREFIGHTERS were called at 6.33pm to extinguish a fire on Old Golf Rd, Ōtorohanga at 6.33pm.

January 16 A HELICOPTER landing site was set up and a rubbish fire fought in Ōtorohanga by volunteer firefighters at 10.52am. A person with burns was transported to hospital.
