Te Kūiti

January 17 FIREFIGHTERS freed a female patient who was pinned under a water blaster on Oparure Rd, Oparure after a trailer tipped. The call came to Te Kūiti volunteer fire brigade at 4.01pm. The trailer was removed and St John transferred the patient to hospital.

January 19 THE brigade extinguished a tree which caught alight when a grass fire spread into the tree line. Firefighters responded to the call on View Rd, Te Kūiti at 6.18pm.

January 22 FIREFIGHTERS responding to a crash on SH30, Benneydale at 1.55pm were stood down en route by the local brigade.

Ōtorohanga

January 16 A DRIVER sustained minor injuries after failing to take a corner and crashing in Kio Kio at 9.15pm.

January 22 A THREE vehicle crash was caused when a car did not stop in time for a line of traffic on SH3 south of Ōtorohanga. The car rear ended a tractor stopped in line for roadworks at about 3.50pm. Serious injuries were sustained in the crash and the rescue helicopter was on the scene. The road was closed for several hours while a police investigation occurred.

Kāwhia

January 19 A SMALL grass fire on Houturoa St, Kāwhia was quickly extinguished by firefighters at 8.04pm.
