Lawrence St work under way

WATER main relocation works have begun on Lawrence St, Te Kūiti and are expected to take about a week to complete.

After the water main between the SH30 intersection and Mangaokewa Stream Bridge is relocated, the second section of Lawrence St will undergo pavement reconstruction and the street will be closed and under traffic management.

The road closure will include Lawrence St from the SH30 intersection to the eastern side of Mangaokewa Stream Bridge and Taupiri Street from Lawrence St to South End Loop.

The Taupiri St car park will also be closed. Pedestrian access will be maintained. Water main relocation this week involved a traffic management shoulder closure on the Redwood Park side of Lawrence St.

Work began with a flurry of activity on Tuesday, but on Wednesday when photographed, nothing was happening.

Waitomo District Council has apologised for the inconvenience the work may cause to road users and thanked them for their patience.
