Te Kūiti bowlers capture another title

Three Te Kūiti Bowling Club members are on a roll.

Peter Lange, Colin Young and Geoff McManus are in pretty good form right now and have the titles to prove it.

The trio, who are all good mates and stalwarts of the Te Kūiti Bowling Club, often provide the weekly banter among members on Saturday, however, they recently let their actions do the talking.

Lange, Young and McManus teamed up to successfully defend their triples title at the Te Kūiti Bowling Club last weekend.

McManus, who has been playing for around a decade, said it was anybody’s game throughout and they were pleased to come out on top.

It’s the third time in four years they have bagged the triples crown; having lost it last year, they were not keen to let it happen again.

His team-mates have been members of the club for nearly 20 years and have bagged plenty of titles during that time.

They have been a dominant team over the past few seasons, so there were plenty of expectations in all the matches to see who could knock them over.

The challenges came in vain with McManus, Lange and Young proving too sharp for their opponents.

They worked perfectly as a team and out-rolled Peter Crosland, Kevin Higgins and Craig McKellar in what was a thrilling final.

It proceeded blow for blow and although a tight contest, Lange, Young and McManus snuck in some points late in the contest to secure the title.

Expect to see these three down at the bowling club for many years to come, sharing a beer and playing the sport they love.
