Netball skills clinic for secondary schools

Maniapoto Netball Centre is hosting a skills clinic for secondary school players.

“We are investing in our rangatahi so we can offer this clinic for free,” the organisation said.

Kim Howard and Jenna Riley-Rata from Elite Sports Programme will be running this skills clinic at the Maniapoto Netball Centre on Sunday, February 26 from 9am to 12.30pm.

The objective is to expose rangatahi to new skills they may not have had an opportunity to learn in the past.

There will also be a workshop for local volunteer coaches.

The skills covered will include: – Front cut, back cut, pass and cut and when to apply these skills. – Attacking movement patterns. – Attacking the line of the ball. – For Attackers, knowing how to control momentum. – One-on-one defense (dictate, delay, deny). – Defenders – initiating opportunities to turn over ball
