POLICE were called when an altercation between a female camper and two men at Arapuni resulted in two of the woman’s car tyres being slashed.
The camper first interacted with the men when they were riding motorbikes at Jones Landing.
They left and returned in a grey four-door ute and are reported to have done donuts at the campground.
During the second interaction between the men and the woman, she reported they became abusive towards her.
When she returned to her campsite, the men are alleged to have slashed two of her tyres. In response the woman chased the men with a bat.
POLICE attended a fatal ATV crash at a rural address in Taharoa. The serious crash unit is investigating.
February 3
A VISITOR to Ōtorohanga reported having a credit card used for 17 unauthorised transactions to the value of $345.21.
FOUR batteries worth $1200 were stolen from a digger and loader in a burglary on Rangiatea Rd, Otewa.
Also reported stolen were four grease guns and a set of scales attached to the loader valued at $15,000.
SEVERAL items were reported stolen from a house on Seddon St, Te Kūiti in an overnight burglary where a window was smashed. The items included multiple rifles, butcher’s knives, black water rafting equipment, six wetsuits valued at $3000 and a slug gun.
Three men travelling in a white flat deck Ford Ranger ute were seen entering the property.
February 5
POLICE were called when 1600 litres of diesel were reported stolen from an address on Kahuwera Rd, Piopio.
A WHEELBARROW full of weeds was stolen from a private garden on Kuku St, Piopio. The victim reported seeing a man pushing her wheelbarrow up the road.
February 6
POLICE have spoken to the person responsible for damaging a vehicle parked on Whittington Ln, Ōtorohanga at 7.13pm. The car was left with deep scratch marks and two large holes on the side.
A NISSAN Fuga crashed on Aria Rd at 12.30pm when its front left wheel came off the road surface. The car was driven through a drain for about 80m and the wheel popped when it was back on the road. The driver overcorrected and crossed to the other side of the road, hit a bank and spun out. The road was described to have been wet at the time. No injuries were sustained.
February 7
DAMAGE was caused to the walls of a vacant property on Ward St, Te Kūiti which was broken into between February 3 and 7. Police have arrested and charged a man with burglary.
A MAN was arrested by Taumarunui police because of a family harm incident.
February 8
POLICE seized 100 cannabis plants from a property in Oparure as part of a national operation. The occupant of the address will appear in Te Kūiti District Court next month on charges of cultivating cannabis and possessing a firearm.
OVERNIGHT a garage was opened and entered on Ngahape Rd, Ōtorohanga. No property was reported stolen.
AN SUV was reported stolen overnight from a house on Hikurangi Rd, Honikiwi. The 2007 black Dodge Nitro was found on February 9 burnt out in a gravel pit on Kāwhia Rd, Hauturu.
A MOTORBIKE rider suffered leg and facial injuries after crashing in Hauturu at about 4.30pm. When emergency services arrived, the bike involved was no longer there.
February 9
A PERSON who left rubbish in another person’s trailer was fined by Taumarunui police for depositing litter.
February 10
TINS of fruit, condensed milk, fish fingers, bin bags, salami and biscuits were reported to have been shoplifted from a Kāwhia shop.
A HOT water cylinder, stove, panel heater and dishwasher were reported stolen from a property under renovation on Kāwhia Rd, Tihiroa.
A RIDE-ON lawnmower was reported stolen from an address on Te Kawa Rd, Te Kawa between 1.30pm and 9.30pm. The mower was described as old and red with one missing headlight.
A VEHICLE stolen from Boles St, Taumarunui was found on fire on Ngakonui Ongarue Rd between Ongarue and
Taringamotu.
February 11
AN orange and white coloured water blaster was reported stolen from an Ōtorohanga business between 12pm and 9pm. The water blaster had a JG Hire sticker on the side.
HUNTING items were reported stolen in a burglary on Whakapapa Rd, which runs between Ōwhango and Kakahi.
TAUMARUNUI police gave advice in a civil dispute regarding a tree.
February 12
TAUMARUNUI police were called to eight family harm episodes on Sunday alone.
February 13
AN overnight burglary was reported on Ouruwhero Rd, Ōtorohanga. A blue and white 2017 Yamaha TTR110 motorcycle was stolen but later recovered.
A VAN was reported stolen from the carpark on Huiputea Dr, Ōtorohanga between 7am-8am. The 1992 Mitsubishi L300 has yet to be found.
February 14
OVERNIGHT a Honda XR motorbike was reported stolen from a property on SH3 Te Kūiti. The bike was red with a black and white leather seat.
POLICE were called to 14 family harm episodes in Taumarunui, seven in Te Kūiti, six in Ōtorohanga and one in Benneydale between February 6 and 13.
