Rain over the past week has had a significant impact on accessibility across the Waikato and work is ongoing to respond to numerous overslips.
Particular issues will require longer term solutions, says Cara Lauder, Waikato System Manager at Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency.
The rain also affected project sites across the region and put a damper on the road renewals programme.
“We can’t complete road resealing or rebuilding when it is wet, as moisture significantly affects the quality of work,” Cara said.
“As we continue the recovery from the recent weather, we will also see sealing crews back out on the network as soon as possible.
“We still have a couple of months to complete our road renewal programme. We will make the most of this time to complete as much work as possible before the cooler months.”
There may be sections of road under temporary traffic management due to the ongoing clean-up.
