February 27

A CREW on the way to assist Benneydale and Taumarunui brigades at a car crash on Ongarue Stream Rd, Waimiha was stood down en route at 8.33am.

March 2

A POT left on a stove at a house on Te Kūiti Rd, Te Kūiti sparked a response by the brigade at 12.41pm. No action was taken by firefighters because the pot was extinguished by a neighbour. Ōtorohanga brigade was on their way to assist, but was turned back at Hangatiki.

March 3

AN investigation was carried out by firefighters responding to an alarm at Te Whare Ruruhau Health Facility in Te Kūiti at 7.27am – no action was required.

March 5

THE brigade conducted traffic control at 3.07pm on Ngarongo St, Te Kūiti, where telephone lines had fallen. The lines were removed from the road.

Ōtorohanga

March 2

FIREFIGHTERS extinguished a scrub fire on farmland on Waitomo Caves Rd, Waitomo at 1.51pm. The scrub was burning under powerlines. A crew from Te Kūiti brigade was present to assist.

A TRUCK and tanker responded to calls about a vegetation fire on Kāwhia Rd, Honikiwi at 9.25pm. It was left in the hands of the property owner.

March 5

THE brigade was called at 8.56pm to set up a helicopter landing site after a medical call in Otewa, Ōtorohanga.
