Community funding expo next week

THE Ōtorohanga Community Funding Expo takes place at the college on April 5, from 3pm to 6pm.

The free event was organised by Ōtorohanga Support House Whare Āwhina, as an opportunity to see what funding was available in different areas, and meet with potential supporters, manager Deb Hill said.

The expo was an opportunity for people to energise their ideas with other like-minded people in the community, and upskill their team, she said.

“Funding for community groups and projects can come from lots of different organisations, and it can be a bit daunting when you don’t know where they are, or what they want, so we have gathered several funding organisations together and you can meet them all in one place,” Deb said.

“Are you, or a community organisation looking for funding? Do you know what you want to achieve for your group or project, but you don’t know who to talk to, or how to start?  We have designed a fantastic free event which could help.

“Within the afternoon there is a free writing workshop available, so bring along ideas for your group or project, kickstart your application process and get tips and tools on what the various funders will be looking for,” Deb said.

Participants also have a chance to win $1000 for a project. There will also be a sausage sizzle and a bouncy castle.

The free writing workshop will run from 5pm-6pm. Those interested are asked to register a spot via the link eventbrite.com/e/otorohanga-community-fund-writing-workshop-tickets-570031267867
