New talent for Te Nehenehenui

FOUR new people have been appointed to the Te Nehenehenui wider governance group, establishment chair Bella Takiari-Brame said.

They are Fonteyn Te Kani, Paula Baker, Fiona Carrick and Michael Crawford.

Fonteyn (Ngāti Maniapoto) and Paula Baker are appointed as independent trustees of Waihikurangi, the Charitable Arm of Te Nehenehenui.

Fonteyn has extensive governance experience and is passionate about supporting local economic growth through progressive procurement, sustainable finance and financial education, Bella said.

Paula is committed to best practice governance to enhance an organisation’s performance.

“Her diverse community reach and social services expertise will be invaluable as Te Nehenehenui navigate through a critical phase of setting out a future direction.”

Fiona Carrick and Michael Crawford are appointed to the Group Investment Committee as independent members.

Fiona has wide knowledge of community governance and a strong background across a range of community boards.

Michael is an investment specialist and focused on achieving good business outcomes while caring for taiao and community. He has worked alongside a number of iwi throughout his career.

“After advertising in November and completing our appointment process by the end of January, we are excited to welcome Fonteyn, Paula, Fiona and Michael into these roles,” Bella said.

“We believe they will complement Te Nehenehenui, offering a diverse range of skills that are essential for us, as we map out our path for the future.”
