Step up and donate blood

The Blood Drive is back in Te Kūiti – on Friday, March 10 at St Andrew’s Church Hall, Rora St, beside the Warehouse, from 9am till 1pm.

Please check your eligibility and book online www.nzblood.co.nz or just call in on the day.

It has been a challenging time for the people of our country the past few weeks because of the terrible devastation left behind after the cyclone and weather event in Auckland and Northland.

Because of the destruction of roads and severe flooding, the NZ Blood Service has been unable to visit areas such as Napier, Hastings, Gisborne, and Auckland and Northland. This equates to about 300 blood donations that are usually collected from each of these larger areas.

The NZ Blood Service is now relying on the smaller communities to come forward, step up and donate blood to help make up for lost donations.

These blood drives are essential for the collection and distribution of blood and blood products to patients in hospitals around our country.

They must get their blood from somewhere and donating blood during a national tragedy can only help fortify blood supplies and assist in reducing local demand – this ensures more blood is available for those in need elsewhere.
