No counter service at Government’s public bank
For the third time in the last three fortnightly pension pay days, this superannuant tried to collect funds at the Westpac “lobby” (there is no actual bank premises) only to be greeted with… “This machine is out of action”. True, one can go to other ATMs, but the question should be asked why the Government public bank does not provide counter service in all towns of note? The only bank that does provide teller service Mon-Fri is Kiwibank, together with Post Office lines. Given the huge profits these Aussie banks take from Kiwis, surely the powers that be should have our own bank, Kiwibank, as the Government’s public bank dispenser irrespective of perhaps a cheaper tendered fee for the service option to our powers that be? The Westpac corporate lunches must be good. AR Baker Te Kūiti
