Tanya Lindsay, Tracey Neal from Friends of Hillview, Ryan Prescott and Te Kūiti Rotary president Ray Scrimgeour with Hillview Rest Home’s new wheels.
Hillview Rest Home’s new car is a bit of a legacy vehicle, being the last one to be wrapped by Te Kūiti signwriter Warren Hitchen before he closed his business.
The Toyota Yaris Cross donated by Ryan Prescott replaced a smaller vehicle, Hillview Home general manager Tanya Lindsay said.
“We had a very small car that only had two doors and a hatchback, which just wasn’t suitable for transporting residents with a wheelchair or a walker,” she said.
“We needed something that could take more than one resident if needed, and also that could fit their mobility aids, their wheelchairs or their walkers.
“We needed a four-door, an SUV-type vehicle.”
Te Kūiti Rotary Club paid for half of the vehicle and the other half was split between the two sponsors, Friends of Hillview and Prescott Toyota, Tanya said.
