Opening expected soon

The new Kōpaki bridge is expected to open this evening to all traffic, but under speed restrictions.

An opening ceremony was held this morning to mark the occasion.

The bridge will be under 24-hour traffic management for several days while the bitumen sets.

Traffic will be restricted to 30km/h to prevent the road from lifting and potholes forming.

Work is expected to begin on demolishing the old bridge on Monday.
