May 8

MEAT and confectionary valued at $60-$100 were reported stolen from a Te Kūiti supermarket at about 1pm by two males.

POLICE confiscated a “small crossbow device” from a Te Kūiti student. Police were called to the school to break up a fight inside a classroom. There was no indication the crossbow was used in the altercation.

May 9

POLICE recovered a stolen 2015 Toyota Corolla from Morrinsville. The car, which was found with a smashed quarter light window and damaged ignition, had been stolen overnight from Domain Dr in Ōtorohanga.

THREE large bath towels were reported stolen from a washing line on Kuku St, Piopio.

TAUMARUNUI police gave advice in two separate civil disputes.

A WOMAN was trespassed from a residential address by Taumarunui police.

A SHIPPING container was broken into in Taumarunui, but it did not appear anything was stolen.

May 10

A PURPLE 2009 Mazda MPV travelling on Ngaroma Rd, Wharepūhunga lost control on a corner, crossed the centreline, hit a bank and rolled at about 12.50pm. Police say the sole occupant sustained minor injuries and the conditions were wet.

A WHITE 2013 Mitsubishi L300 light van was reported stolen from Moa St, Piopio overnight. It was recovered from Leslie St, Kihikihi later that day with a smashed driver window and damaged ignition barrel.

MINOR damage was caused to a roadside fence and the 2002 Toyota Camry that crashed through it into a paddock in Piopio.

TAUMARUNUI police processed a man for “high level” drink driving after a family harm incident.

May 11

A WAIMIHA resident who thought he was purchasing a cabin was scammed out of $1000. The victim saw the cabin advertised for sale and paid a $1000 deposit, but when he travelled to view the cabin in Te Kūiti, no cabin was there.

POLICE arrested a man for disorderly behaviour on Miriama St, Taumarunui.

TWO people were trespassed from a residential Taumarunui address.

May 12

A HONDA TRX 420 quad bike was reported stolen from an address on Kaimango Rd, Honikiwi.

POLICE are investigating a man wearing a balaclava and gloves, armed with a tyre iron, who smashed several windows at a Kāwhia service station at 1.30am.

A TAUMARUNUI driver was processed for low level drink driving.

A MAN was trespassed from a residential Taumarunui address.

A SMALL farm trailer was reported stolen from a Taumarunui business.

May 13

TOOLS valued at about $5800 were reported stolen from a business on Progress Dr, Ōtorohanga at 2.25am. Three HiKOKI brand grinders and a brushless toolkit, an LPG gas unit, retractable hose and reel, and universal machine trolley.

A SINGLE axle Kia tip trailer and two motorcycle ramps were stolen overnight from a commercial address on Huiputea Dr, Ōtorohanga. It is believed the trailer was taken to the burglary on Progress Dr.

TAUMARUNUI police gave advice in a property dispute.

POLICE in Taumarunui gave mental health advice to a female.

 

May 14

A BLUE station wagon and goods inside it were stolen from Te Mapara overnight. The 2004 SsangYong Rexton has not yet been found and neither has the Husqvarna 365 chainsaw, safety chaps, ear muffs, safety glasses, Kaiwaka-brand raincoat and Redband gumboots that were inside it.

TWO dogs were surrendered to animal control in Taumarunui after they attacked stock.

POLICE were called after a Mountainview Rd, Ōtorohanga resident was woken up at 2.50am by a man tapping on their bedroom window. When confronted by another resident, the man ran away.

A PERSON reported to have been walking around Benneydale throwing rocks at houses, breaking one window, was arrested for wilful damage. The person was detained under the mental health act and was scheduled to appear in court yesterday.

POLICE were called to nine family harm episodes in Taumarunui, six in Ōtorohanga, eight in Te Kūiti and one in Kāwhia between May 8 and 15.
