Missing ewe always

A Te Kūiti ewe has been behind baas at Waitomo District Council animal control.

On Tuesday, WDC reported a ewe had been found on the lamb:

“This ewe has been picked up for roaming on Earl Street. Please phone WDC [animal control] if she belongs to you. Proof of ownership will be required.”

The beast was shepherded to safer premises in the WDC ewe-te.

On the post, Karen Barrett said “She’d be happy with our friendly mob in Piopio.”

However, the woolly beast was soon shearing up*, because her owner contacted the council quickly.

Siobhan Cleaver saw the post and commented, “Thank you, have called [council]. She is our very beloved sheepy.

They have since been re-ewenited.

It is believed that Sheepy made her own escape; there is no suggestion that Siobhan and her family had been fleeced.

The escapee was not at all crook. She was, perhaps, feeling a little sheepish. Her wool was in tidy condition and without any dreadlocks; no one would have mistaken her for a hipi.

*King Country News journalists Andy Campbell and Paul Charmin described this pun as “maa-ginal.”
