Coin box mystery

A small carved wooden box containing “quite a few coins” has been handed into Te Kūiti police by somebody who saw it fall off the back of a late model orange Mitsubishi Triton vehicle on Wednesday last week.

The box apparently fell off the back of the vehicle in Taupiri St and South End Loop Rd, near the Shearing Statue, at about 5pm.

Police said if somebody wanted to claim it, they would need to come into the station and provide a description of the box.
