Ōtorohanga

September 26

The brigade was called out at 4.46pm after a car rolled on Whakapirau Rd. The incident, which resulted in minor injuries to the driver, occurred in heavy rain.

September 28

At 9.22pm, a car rolled on Tumutumu Rd, Waitomo, but the occupants extracted themselves before the brigade arrived.

September 29

The brigade headed out to two incidents in the Kāwhia area, but both times, as the crash scenes were under control, they were turned around before arriving.

At 1.43pm, Ōtorohanga was summoned to the scene of a crash on State Highway 31 at Ōpārau.

At 10.38pm, firefighters were called to assist Kawhia Brigade following a report of a car in a ditch at Aotea.

September 30

At 1.50pm, the brigade was called to the Waitomo Information Centre on SH37 following a report that a person was trapped in a lift there.

  The incident was caused by a power cut and as the lift occupant was freed when the power came back on, the brigade was turned back on the way to the incident.

October 1

At 4.52pm, the brigade sent two trucks to the Waitomo Information Centre, when an automatic alarm in the toilets activated. On the way back to base, the brigade’s two truck crews were diverted to Ōtorohanga College to investigate following an automatic fire alarm activation. The likely cause was an accidental triggering of the alarm during building renovations.

October 3

At 12.14pm, the brigade was called out after an automatic fire alarm sounded at the Ōtorohanga Club. The cause was traced to cooking food in the kitchen.

Te Kūiti

September 27

At 10.33pm, the brigade was called to the Les Munro Centre where the brigade’s assistance had been requested. It turned out no action was required.

September 30

At 3.01pm, the brigade was called to help after a tree downed powerlines in Ngarongo St. The brigade assisted Lines Company workers who were removing the tree, which had fallen across a footpath and onto power wires.

October 3

At 1.17pm, the brigade was called to Mahoenui after a car was reported to be smoking. The Piopio Brigade, which had also been called to the scene, dealt with the incident upon arrival. This enabled Te Kūiti’s fire truck to be turned back.

Kāwhia

September 28

At about 2.08am, the brigade was called to an emergency medical response incident at Taharoa Village.

September 29

at 1.43pm, the brigade was called to a vehicle crash, SH31 at Ōpārau. One person was cut from the car by fire fighters using hydraulic rescue equipment. They were then flown to hospital in a stable condition by the rescue helicopter.

at 10.38pm, the brigade was called to a crash at Aotea. No action was needed by the fire brigade.

October 1

At 1.42pm, the brigade was called to a rubbish fire at Kāwhia Lookout.
