September 29

At about 1pm, police attended a single vehicle crash on State Highway 31 at Ōpārau. A 2010 blue Nissan AD had been travelling eastwards on Kawhia Rd when it failed to negotiate a moderate right-hand bend.

The vehicle’s single male occupant was extracted from the vehicle with assistance from the Kāwhia Volunteer Fire Brigade and airlifted to Waikato Hospital with moderate injuries.

Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash.

At about 8pm, police attended a crash on Aotea Rd, Kawhia. A 1996 grey Honda Odyssey was discovered in a ditch following what appeared to be a minor crash.
