Ōtorohanga

October 24: At 3.52pm, on State Highway 31, the brigade was called out after a car left the road and went over a bank. There were no injuries.

October 25: At 2.54pm, the brigade was called after a roof-level heat pump caught fire at a house in Maungatautari Rd, Maihiihi. The brigade’s truck and tanker attended, but the householder did a good job of turning the power off and putting the fire out with a hose ahead of their arrival.

October 26: At 3.57pm, the brigade was called out to stand by at the Te Awamutu station while that brigade was away fighting a house fire. At 4.30pm, Ōtorohanga’s tanker was called to assist in fighting the fire itself.

October 28: At 7.32pm, the brigade was called out after a fire broke out in a bin in Progress Drive.

Te Kūiti

October 17: At 1.30am, the brigade responded to a call from hospital flats in Ailsa St where a noise was heard coming from the fuseboard, Fire fighters investigated and left the matter in the hands of an electrician.

October 19: At 10.08am, the brigade assisted St John Ambulance with a medical call to a resident in The Esplanade.

October 24: At 10.20pm, the brigade responded to an alarm activation at Universal Beef packers. No cause for the activation was discovered.

October 30: At 11.15am, Te Kūiti and Piopio brigades were called out to a motor vehicle crash at Āria. Both were turned back while still in transit.  

EARLY Tuesday evening a fire alarm sounded at Te Kuīti’s Gallagher Recreation Centre, in Eketone St. The callout disrupted junior basketball games, leaving scores of players and their supporters waiting outside, while the brigade investigated.
