Call outs

Benneydale

November 1: At about 12.15pm, a witness saw a teenager lighting two gorse fires, which spread between the rail corridor and the road just north of Waimiha Village.

Benneydale brigade responded, backed up by Taumarunui, and fire fighters spent about two hours putting the fires out. Police are investigating.

Te Kuīti

November 6: At 10.39am, an automatic fire alarm activated at Te Whare residential care facility on State Highway 30, just out of town. Contractors working on site may have triggered the alarm accidentally.

At 5.26pm, the brigade was called to a vegetation fire in Rangitoto Rd. The fire affected about 100 square metres and, following reports of people setting fires in the area, is being treated as suspicious.

November 7: At 6.30am, the brigade assisted St John Ambulance following a call to Oparure Rd.

Ōtorohanga

The brigade attended three calls to assist St John Ambulance staff last week. They were to Ōtorohanga addresses on November 2 and 3 and to an address on Waitomo Caves Rd on November 5.

November 2: At 10.56am the brigade was called out to a false alarm with good intent after a person saw a rubbish fire in Merrin Ave and mistook it for a house fire.
