Waters works nearing completion

Three Waters infrastructure renewals nearing completion in the Waitomo district include renewing Te Kūiti water mains on Lusk Street and Butler Street, a stormwater pipe in Edward Street, wastewater pipe in Alexandra Street, water mains in Moa and Tui streets in Piopio and a wastewater pipe in Seddon Street.

The council’s goal was to improve the quality and efficiency of water services in the district, infrastructure services general manager Shyamal Ram said.

“We are also working on several plans, both long-term and short-term to improve the resilience of our three waters infrastructure.”

Contractor Camex Civil had been working since May this year to renew and upgrade water, wastewater and stormwater pipes in Te Kūiti and Piopio, he said.

The scheduled work is part of the annual renewal and upgrade programme.

Pipes in poor condition are identified and replaced each year.
