Christmas rolls into Te Kūiti

A LARGE crowd comprising hundreds of parents with children in tow, turned out on Friday evening for the annual Te Kūiti Christmas parade.

The parade may have lacked Ōtorohanga’s Kiwiana-themed costumes, seen the week before, but the crowd for the Te Kūiti event seemed larger.

There was a good selection of floats with many of the youngsters riding on them beautifully dressed in a wide variety of costumes. And in this parade Father Christmas was both easy to see and keen to communicate with his many adoring fans.

Waitomo Mayor John Robertson said it was great the weather was so good and such a large crowd turned out.

“Somebody said to me that the event seemed like a real tonic following all the restrictions our community had to endure during the Covid period, and I couldn’t help agreeing,” he said.
