THE annual poker run raising funds for local mental health spending will be held January 20.
The Quota Club in association with the Te Kūiti Hot Rod Club and the Te Kūiti Motorcycle Club is inviting sponsors for the event.
The event in November last year raised more than $1200 for the Te Kūiti Volunteer Fire Brigade and Te Kūiti St John Ambulance.
The clubs are seeking sponsorship for the event from other businesses.
It’s not just a charitable contribution, it is also an advertising opportunity for your business,” Quota club president Mark Blakeway said.
Sponsors’ logos will be displayed on the sponsors’ board at the club for all to see at the beginning and end of the run and will remain on display afterwards – until the next event.
The poker run is a ride or drive visiting rural clubs about the King Country with participants picking up a card at each stop to eventually make up a poker hand. With the winners receiving prizes when they eventually return to the start at the Quota Club Te Kūiti.
The plan is to start with an 8am breakfast at the Quota Club. That will cost $15 with $5 going back to mental health. Registration for each person partaking in the poker run is $20.
The run departs at 10am for Aria, Piopio, Waitomo Caves Village, Ōtorohanga and finishing at the Quota Club at 6.30-7pm for the last card and prizegiving.
