Police attended 11 family harm incidents last week.

February 12 and February 16

Video footage taken at the Z Service Station on Te Kumi Rd on these dates, shows two motorists pumping petrol, then driving off without paying. Police are investigating.

February 15

Police executed a search warrant at a property in Te Kūiti and seized 112 cannabis plants, plus a large quantity of cannabis product already processed for sale.  

  A man has been charged with cultivating cannabis with the potential for further charges to follow.

February 16

Police are investigating a burglary at a property on Mangarino St at about 11pm.

LAst week police attended seven family harm incidents.

POLICE are still investigating numerous deliberately set vegetation fires in the Wharepuhunga area over the past three weeks.

January 23 to February 15

At some time during this period two water cylinders and a pipe were removed from a shed on a property in Te Kawa Rd.

February 12

Police were called out following reports of a fight involving an Ōtorohanga College student and a member of the public, but the matter was resolved without need for further action.

February 15-16

Burglars tried, but failed, to smash their way into Thirsty Liquor on Maniapoto St, via a side window.

Police attended two family harm incidents.

February 17

Police received a call from a member of the public to say a boat had capsized while crossing the bar at the Kāwhia harbour entrance. Of the two men aboard, one swam to shore while the other remained holding onto the boat.

  Members of the public went out in a boat and rescued the man holding onto the boat. When police arrived both men were safely on shore and neither required medical attention.

   “Both men were wearing lifejackets, with one saying that these enabled them to survive the ordeal,” police said.  

February 14

Police were called to the scene of a crash on State Highway 3 at 5.20am. When they arrived, the driver of the vehicle, a 2004 Mazda 6, had fled the scene.

A slug from a slug gun hit a window at a residential address.

February 14

Warrants to arrest were issued by the court for people failing to appear.

February 15

Police assisted two people having mental health issues.

Police arrested a female on a number of drug related charges.

February 16

A person was seen running from a property on a private security camera.

February 17

A highly intoxicated man refused to leave a workplace, but police eventually persuaded him to return home.

Police assisted a male who was having mental health issues.

February 18

While assisting ambulance staff, police located cannabis plants growing at a residential

address.

February 20

Two young males were seen smashing a window at the rear of a business.
