Tough Anzac Day battles came the way of the three Ōtorohanga Sports senior rugby sides on Saturday.
The premier side fell 62-12 to Hamilton Marist, premier development lost 57-10 against Hamilton Marist B at Island Reserve and the Hamilton Old Boys Huskiez beat the women’s team 74-20 at Willoughby Park in Hamilton.
Reserve Ondrej Bejcek and captain Ryan McNeil were the sole scorers for the premier golds side. Number 10 Manaaki Rewi-Wetini added a conversion off the tee.

The stacked Hamilton Marist side saw Canadian international Spencer Jones help himself to a double, as did former King Country reps Leigh Bristowe and Josh Balme.
Recent recruit from Taumarunui Districts, 19-game Rams prop Dennis Andrews-Peters also crossed the chalk for the visitors – as did former Thames Valley prop Mosese Mafi and 2024 New Zealand Māori XV flanker Adrein Wharawhara.
In the earlier premier development blues clash, Isoa Dobui was once again on the scoresheet.
The Ōtorohanga B winger scored two tries, his team’s only points.
Campbell Park will host the Ōtorohanga men’s teams this Saturday as they take on Morrinsville Sports.
Waikato halfback Klee Begbie helped herself to two tries against Old Boys for the Ōtorohanga women.
Keighley Brough scored the third try for the visitors, while Tayla Toa added a conversion and a penalty to the tally.
This weekend’s draw sees the women host Fraser Tech at Island Reserve.
