Ōtorohanga underway

Ōtorohanga premier development made a solid start to the Waikato club rugby season, downing Melville B 59-5 at Island Reserve.

The premier team got an instant 50-0 win after Melville pulled the pin on their A team for 2026.

Development left winger Isoa Dobui helped himself to a hattrick while lock Turuva Lumeleme scored a double in front of home fans.

Other scorers were forwards Dion Pye, Lasaro Tora, Rangi Green and Paulo Sione.

Captain Liam Fox added five conversions off the tee and Zach Coles knocked over two more.

This weekend, both sides will face Hamiton Old Boys at Ōtorohanga.

In the women’s premiership match, Ōtorohanga were pipped four tries to three by Melville-Hautapu combined, “Mel-Tap”.

The final score as 22-15.

Kura Edwards scored 10 of the home team’s points, while centre Keighley Brough picked up the third score.

Suburbs women will pay a visit to Island Reserve this weekend.
