We are continuing to receive reports of overseas scam calls.
These scammers often pose as bank fraud staff and attempt to convince victims to install software on their devices, giving them remote access. They may then pressure people into providing personal information or logging into their online banking.

If something feels off, hang up immediately. Do not click on links or download unfamiliar applications. If concerned, disconnect your internet or power down your device. If you believe you may have been targeted, contact your bank directly using the verified New Zealand number.
Police attended a crash on Oparure Road where a driver failed to negotiate a bend and struck a bush line. No injuries were reported, however, the 22-year-old male driver returned a breath alcohol level well over the legal limit. Their licence was suspended, and they were summons to Court.
During enquiries at a Te Kuiti address, staff recovered a stolen ute taken from out of area, investigations are ongoing.
In a separate Te Kuiti matter, police are making enquiries to locate a 29-year-old man following a reported breach of a protection order incident.
Police responded to a crash on Waitomo Caves Road after a vehicle went through a farm fence. Police are awaiting blood test results to determine if the driver was under the influence.
On Pukerimu Road, a vehicle rolled leaving the driver injured and requiring transport to Waikato Hospital. Staff also attended a crash on Ngahape Road, believed to have been caused by wet conditions combined with an earlier oil spill.
Police responded to a report of a stolen ute being advertised for sale in Te Kuiti. The vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner. The alleged offender, who had an active warrant, was later arrested in Te Awamutu by King Country staff and has been charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle and obtaining by deception.
