Following several burglary, dishonesty, and robbery-related incidents, primarily in the Te Kuiti area, police executed a number of search warrants. As a result, three youths have been arrested and charged and are currently subject to bail conditions.
During the execution of these warrants, staff recovered stolen items linked to other reported offences, including property taken from a flood-affected home that was burgled in Ōtorohanga. Investigations into several matters remain ongoing, and police are committed to identifying and holding further offenders accountable.

Police attended a vehicle crash in Te Kūiti involving a car and a truck. Fortunately, those involved sustained only minor injuries and were able to walk away from the collision.
In a separate incident on SH30, police responded to a vehicle crash where the driver had left the scene. Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
Following on from a family harm incident, a 43-year-old Te Kūiti man was arrested and charged with breaching a Protection Order. Police opposed bail, and the man was remanded in custody.
Following a separated family harm matter, Police located and arrested a 36-year-old man at an address in Ōtorohanga. While executing enquiries at the property, staff also located and seized a firearm. Police would like to acknowledge the cooperation of those involved, which assisted staff in resolving the matter safely.
Following the earthquake felt across parts of the region over the weekend, police received several calls relating to slips and fallen trees affecting local roads and properties.

Police have also noted an increase in rural burglaries across the district, with offenders targeting utes, trailers, and farm vehicles. We encourage residents to remain vigilant, secure property where possible, and report any suspicious activity to police immediately.
