It has been a busy week for King Country police, with several arrests made and staff responding to a range of incidents across the district.
You may have noticed an increased police presence in both towns last week as enquiries were carried out to locate a male wanted for breaching a protection order earlier in the month. A 29-year-old man was located and arrested without incident, and police also seized some firearms from the address.
Police attended a crash in Ōtorohanga after a driver failed to navigate a straight section of road and collided with a parked vehicle and a power pole, causing significant damage. This incident was particularly concerning given its proximity to a school and early childcare facilities. Thankfully, no one was injured.
Staff also responded to a separate breach of protection order in Ōtorohanga involving a 43-year-

old man. He was already subject to court-imposed bail conditions and facing an active charge for a similar breach. Following his arrest,
Police opposed bail, and he has been remanded in custody.
In Te Kūiti, a 37-year-old man was arrested after being sought for making threats and breaching a no-violence bail condition.
Police continue to receive calls regarding disruptive motorbike activity in both Te Kūiti and Ōtorohanga. We ask the public to keep reporting these incidents and provide any information about where the bikes are coming from or going to, as this assists with enforcement.
During the week, police dealt with a failing to stop incident involving a motorbike in Ōtorohanga. The rider was located shortly after at an address, the bike was impounded, and the 42-year-old rider has been summonsed to court for failing to stop and resisting Police.
In Te Kūiti township, staff took a 42-year-old man into custody after he was found in possession of a knife.
Police also attended a crash on Rora Street in Te Kūiti. Enquiries are ongoing and staff are awaiting blood test results before taking further action with the driver.
Officers responded to a burglary at Pukenui School, where three male youths were located and arrested. Files are now being prepared for the local Youth Aid Officer.
