King Country Police have been busy responding to a range of incidents across the district over the past week.
Staff attended a number of driving complaints, providing prevention advice where appropriate and taking enforcement action when required. Following a vehicle stop, one driver was issued a summons for dangerous driving.
Police also responded to reports of a vehicle travelling without headlights on State Highway 39 during the early hours of the morning. Officers stopped the vehicle and found the 43-year-old driver was wanted in relation to several burglary and shoplifting incidents. A search of the vehicle located drugs and drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested and transported to Hamilton in custody before later being released on bail to an address outside the district.
In relation to burglaries at the Te Kuiti Dog Pound last month, a 39-year-old woman has been located and arrested. She remains in custody and is facing several burglary-related charges before the courts.

In sadder circumstances, Police attended a sudden death in Te Kuiti involving a 70-year-old man. The matter has been referred to the Coroner. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
Police are investigating several dishonesty incidents, including a robbery at a Te Kuiti mini mart where four offenders entered the store, one allegedly armed with a hammer.
Staff are also making enquiries into a burglary at a Piopio service station, where offenders gained entry and stole drinks and confectionery.

We greatly appreciate the support of the public, but at times information shared on social media can hinder an investigation more than it helps. Be mindful those that commit these offences can also see the information online and naming people without evidence can unfairly affect or impact their lives.
In relation to a vehicle crash in Ōtorohanga earlier this month, a 35-year-old woman has been summoned to court on charges of careless driving and possession of drug utensils.
Staff also attended a head-on collision involving two vehicles. Police are awaiting blood test results before determining any further action in relation to the driver believed to be at fault.
Unfortunately, the driver of the second vehicle suffered significant injuries, including a punctured lung, broken ribs, and a fractured eye socket.
