Police On the Beat
Two youths from the King Country allegedly stole a vehicle and committed a burglary in the Cambridge area.
The pair were apprehended after being involved in a vehicle crash. They had only recently been granted bail in relation to other offences. Police opposed bail, and both youths have since been remanded in custody. Further dishonesty-related incidents remain under investigation and may be linked to the pair.

Police executed a search warrant at an Ōtorohanga address following the recovery of a stolen van from the property two weeks ago. During the search, officers located a homemade firearm, ammunition, drugs, and drug-related utensils. A 43-year-old occupant has been charged in relation to the items discovered.
Staff also located and arrested a 26-year-old man in Ōtorohanga who was actively breaching his release conditions. The man attempted to flee from police but was quickly apprehended.
In Te Kuiti, Police arrested a 37-year-old man who was wanted for breaching a Protection Order. Bail was opposed, and he has been remanded in custody.
Police attended a crash on State Highway 3 where a vehicle left the roadway, went through a fence, and came to rest in a paddock. Prior to the crash, there were reports of the vehicle being driven on the wrong side of the road. Police are awaiting the results of blood analysis.
Officers also attended a sudden death at a workplace in Te Kuiti, where a 58-year-old man passed away. The matter has been referred to the Coroner. Our thoughts and condolences are with the man’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
Search and Rescue volunteers and police were deployed to assist in the search for a missing man in Benneydale. Thankfully, he was located the following day by a member of the public who had joined the search efforts.
