King Country News and App is owned by the Beacon Media Group based in Whakatane. We are one of the few family-owned news media groups remaining in New Zealand, and are members of both the News Publishers Association, and the Community Newspapers Association.

For us, our flagship is the King Country News, an award-winning weekly newspaper based in Te Kūiti. We also produce the monthly King Country Farmer for our rural farming sector. Now we have the King Country App, and a great online website experience, if it’s to do with the King Country we have got it covered!

Our audience includes over 20,000 people throughout the King Country, from Kāwhia on the coast across to Arohena (northern boundary being the Puniu bridge just 2km past Kihikihi), down to Taumarunui and across to Mokau.
